Eliina Karjalainen

ROYALSTON - Eliina Karjalainen, 102, formerly of 4 Richmond Court, South Royalston, died early Tuesday, December 5th in the Baldwinville Nursing Home. She was born in Biipuri, Finland on November 4,1904, the daughter of Edward and Eva (Hjerppe) Karjalainen and came to the United States in 1921. She lived in South Royalston since and was presently the oldest resident of Royalston. Eliina was a housekeeper for private families in the Worcester area for many years. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church in South Royalston, and was a member of the Templeton Golden Age Club and the Royalston Luncheon Club. She enjoyed going to Foxwoods, knitting, crocheting and playing cards. Eliina leaves a sister, Aili Karjalainen in Finland; two nephews, three nieces, several grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and three great-grand nephews and nieces. She also leaves other nieces and nephews in Finland. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8th at 11 A.M. in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Dr. Virginia E. Asel, pastor of the First and Second Congregational Churches of Royalston, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, South Royalston. A calling hour will be held in the funeral home on Friday, December 8th, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.m. prior to the service.
