WINCHENDON - M. Elmina (Duguay) Lawrence, 97, died Thursday, September 22, 2022 at UMass Medical Center, in Worcester.
She was the wife of 65 years to the late William P. Lawrence, Sr who died in 2012.
She leaves three children, Susan A. Jansson and her husband Jeremy of Westminster, Steven L. Lawrence of Orlando, FL and Cynthia A. Jowers and her husband Frank of Apopka, FL: four grandchildren, Kimberly, Leif, Kalah and Derek, seven great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her son, William P. Lawrence, Jr; two sisters, Mildred Walker and Bennie Duguay.
She was born in Athol on November 13, 1924, a daughter of the late Albert and Rose (Duguay) Duguay. She was a 1942 graduate of Orange High School. She worked for Union Trust Drill, and was a private secretary at various jobs.
She was a member of the United Parish, where she sang in the choir for over 50 years; she was also a member of the ladies fellowship. She was a former president of the Women’s Club and the Gardeners Club. She volunteered at Montachusett Home care for several years and at the Winchendon Senior Center. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Faith Chapter and was a past Matron.
Elmina’s funeral will be held on Friday, September 30 , 2022, at 12:30 pm. in the United Parish, 39 Front Street, Winchendon, MA Interment will follow at 2:00 pm in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Stone Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.
