RINDGE, N.H. - Elisha H. Young, 85, of 20 Hunt Hill Road, Rindge, NH, died peacefully at his residence Thursday evening, April 23rd, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Winchendon, MA on December 28,1923, son of the late Elisha C. and Anna (Miller) Young and had lived in Rindge for most of his life. Elisha worked as First Class Fireman at Monadnock Forest Products for many years until his retirement. He previously worked at Winchendon Furniture. He enjoyed wildlife and his hobbies included rabbit hunting, hiking and gardening. He was a member of West Swanzey Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. For many years, he and his family enjoyed their summer cottage in Gouldsborough, ME. A veteran of World War Two, Elisha proudly served in the Army and was stationed overseas in Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, Victory Medal and European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon. He leaves his wife, Norma N. (Bigwood) Young, who he married on July 31,1953; one son, Harold J. Young of Rindge; one daughter, Loretta A. May and her husband Steven of Winchendon; one brother, Walter Young of Keene, NH; two sisters, Ardis Larochelle of Fitzwilliam, NH and Eileen Sellars of Rindge; two grandchildren, Steven May Jr. and his wife Lilizabeth of San Jacinto, CA and Jocelyn May of Winchendon and several nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Warren Young and John S. Young, predeceased him. Private graveside services will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Rindge. There are no calling hours.
