WINCHENDON - Elizabeth F. “Betty” (O’Donnell) Raymond, 82, of 57B Hyde Park Drive, Winchendon died peacefully Sunday afternoon, July 1st, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
She was born in Keene, NH on November 20, 1929, daughter of the late George and M. Mabel (Pease) O’Donnell and had lived in Winchendon for 52 years.
Betty worked for many years as a machine operator at Ray Plastics. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and Winchendon Golden Agers. She was an active volunteer at the Winchendon Senior Center and was named Senior Citizen of the Year in 2003.
Betty enjoyed playing bingo, cribbage, bowling and trips to the ocean and to Foxwoods. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family.
Her husband of 16 years, Norman Raymond, died in 2002. She leaves four children, Debra E. St. Pierre and her husband Mark of Winchendon, Donna F. Treshinsky of Winchendon, Robert M. Gendron and his wife Monique of Winchendon and Linda S. Gendron Reed of St. Johnsbury, VT; a brother, Andrew O’Donnell of Florida; four stepchildren, Jo-Ann Funk of Sioux Falls, SD, Nancy Gendron of Midland, NC, Jane Raymond of Gardner and Alice Sibley of Winchendon; a sister-in-law Evelyn O’Donnell of Keene, NH, twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her siblings, Charles O’Donnell, George O’Donnell, Mary Bowers and William O’Donnell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 5th at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keene, NH.
