WESTMINSTER – Elliot J. Antognoni, 90, of Westminster, died peacefully Monday afternoon, March 2nd in Baldwinville Nursing Home, with his family at his side.
He was born in Winchendon on June 16, 1924, son of the late Giovanni and Antonia (DeAngelis) Antognoni and was a resident of Westminster for most of his life. He had been a resident of Florida for 25 years.
Elliot was a meat cutter at Stop and Shop in Gardner for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening and deep sea fishing. He proudly served his country during World War Two as a member of the United States Army. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, World War Two Victory Medal and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. Elliot was a member of Ovila Case Post #905 VFW and American Legion in Jaffrey, NH.
He leaves his wife of 67 years, Florence M. (Grenier) Antognoni; four children, Bruce E. Antognoni and his wife Donna of Lake City, FL, Avin M. Antognoni of Seffner, FL, Norine F. Descoteaux and her husband William of Westminster and Keith M. Antognoni of Manassas, VA; a sister, Amelia T. Steves of Winchendon; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Ledevino J. “Tony” Antononi and a sister, Eva Dionne.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 7th at 10 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon in the spring.
