Elsie A. (Erickson) Morse

July 27, 1924 — February 18, 2015

TEMPLETON – Elsie A. (Erickson) Morse, 90, formerly of 123 Depot Road, East Templeton, died peacefully Wednesday morning, February 18th in Baldwinville Nursing Home, with her family at her side.

She was born in Gardner on July 27, 1924, daughter of the late Frans Alarik. and Edla Maria (Holm) Erickson and was a 1942 graduate of former  Templeton High School.

Elsie was in charge of the Templeton and East Templeton Post Offices for 21 years until her retirement.  In support of the war effort during World War Two, she had worked as a welder at Heywood Wakefield Furniture Company.  Elsie was a member of the former East Templeton United Methodist Church.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.

Her husband of 56 years, Bayard L. Morse, Jr., died in 2002.  She leaves six children, Barry S. Morse and his life companion Barbara LaGoy of Baldwinville, Glenna M. Lehtonen and her husband Bradley of East Templeton, Janice M. Fadden and her husband Barry of East Templeton, Mark A. Morse and his wife Judy of Athol, Susan J. Nobrega and her husband Michael of Otter River and Eric C. Morse of Athol; eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jean (Rich) Morse; a grandson, Hunter J. Nobrega; two sisters, Alma Jacobson and Elna Davis and six brothers.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 23rd at 12 Noon in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.  Burial will follow in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.

Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday, February 22nd from 4 to 6 P.M.
