WINCHENDON – Elsie (Haley) Quinlisk, 97, formerly of 80 Linden Street, Winchendon and formerly of Gardner, died peacefully Friday evening, December 9th in Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville with her granddaughter at her side.
She was born in Worcester on March 10, 1914, the daughter of the late William and Anna (Wood) Haley and grew up in Gardner, where she graduated from Gardner High School in 1932. She continued to live in Gardner for most of her life and for the last eight years has lived in Winchendon.
Elsie was a factory worker for many years at George Bent Co. until her retirement. An avid traveler, she had seen most of the United States. Crocheting, crossword puzzles and plastic canvassing were her hobbies. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family.
Her husband, Edward Quinlisk, died in 1972, and a daughter, Margaret I. “Peggy” Cass, died last year. She leaves a daughter, Shirley A. Gautreau and her husband Real of Copperas Cove, TX, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and a very dear friend, Olive Blodgett of Winchendon. Her brother, George Haley, also predeceased her.
Graveside services will be held Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11 AM in Pine Grove Cemetery, Templeton. The Rev. Dr. R. Gary Heikkila will officiate. There are no calling hours.
