Emile Edgar Daigle, affectionately known as Ed, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023. He was born on November 28, 1933 in Gardner, Massachusetts and was a long term resident of Otter River.
Ed was a devoted husband to Pauline (Patria) for 65 years. He was a supportive father to Brian Daigle and his wife Katherine, Bonnie Farineau and her husband Thomas, Brenda Breen and her husband Anthony, and Bruce Daigle. He was a doting grandfather to Robert Daigle, Elisandra Daigle, Thomas Daigle, Kiersten Daigle, Katherine Farineau, Caroline Gillett and her husband Rory, Rebecca Schroeder and her husband Jeffrey, and Jessica Breen. His love further extended to his great-granddaughter, Maeve Schroeder. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Emile and Lillian Daigle, and his siblings Cleo Daigle, Alvin Daigle, Stella Dion, and Patrick Daigle.
Ed spent the majority of his career as a truck driver for the Seaman Paper Company, until his retirement in 2002. He was a proud veteran, having served in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict as a tail gunner on a B29, where he flew 18 missions while stationed in Japan. His humble nature shone through in his passion for simple pleasures such as gardening, reading, and completing crossword puzzles. Ed was a "jack of all trades" and could fix anything, from appliances to automobiles, and frequently helped others with their various projects. He also enjoyed remote control airplanes and sailboats, and above all, spending quality time with his family. Ed's loving nature and sense of humor made him a magnet for his grandchildren, who fondly remember spending many hours with him.
His life was a testament to dedication, love and humility. Ed has left an indelible mark on our hearts, and will forever be remembered as a loving husband, caring father, a doting grandfather, and a good friend.
