WINCHENDON – Emile J. St.Pierre, 90, formerly of 75 Hyde Park Drive, died peacefully Tuesday evening, January 27th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner with his family at his side.
He was born in St. Perpetue, Quebec, Canada on October 17, 1924, son of the late Emile J. and Amanda (Pelletier) St. Pierre and lived in Winchendon for most of his life.
Emile worked as a belt sander for many years at Nichols and Stone Furniture Company, Gardner until his retirement. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where he served as a collector for many years. He was also a member of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion and Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 VFW. His hobbies included watching football and baseball and reading. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Emile proudly served his country during World War Two as a member of the United States Army. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Phillipines Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War Two Victory Medal.
His wife of 59 years, Jeannine M. (Chouinard) St.Pierre, died in 2008. He leaves two sons, Reynold St. Pierre and his wife Dolores and Michael St.Pierre and his wife Audrey of Winchendon; three granddaughters, Jessica Vezina and her husband Ryan, Ashley St.Pierre and Katelyn St.Pierre; four great grandchildren, Shawn Vezina, Jason Vezina, Jayden Devarney and Haylie Devarney as well as several nieces and nephews. A son, Paul St.Pierre and four brothers, Tony St.Pierre, Joseph St.Pierre, Armand St.Pierre and Roland St.Pierre, predeceased him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 31st at 11 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in the spring.
Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM preceding the mass.
