WINCHENDON -  Erline Catherine (Andrews) Ashmore died peacefully Friday morning, October 23, 2015 in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, with her family at her side.

She was born in Winchendon on June 13, 1929, daughter of the late George and Catherine (Finn) Andrews and was a resident of Winchendon for her entire life.

Erline spent most of her life as a devoted wife and mother for her family.  She also worked at The Winchendon Dress Shop, as a teacher’s aide in the Winchendon School system and as a receptionist for The Winchendon School.  She was also a long time poll worker for the Town of Winchendon.  Erline was also a member of the Winchendon Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary and the Winchendon Women’s Club, as well as many other civic organizations.  She was well known for her sense of fashion, jewelry and her pocketbooks, hence her favorite hobbies were shopping at Macy’s, Filenes and QVC but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.  She was a member of The Murdock High School Class of 1947.  Erline was also a cancer survivor.

Her husband of 26 years, Winchendon Fire Chief Clayton T. Ashmore, predeceased her in 1977.  She leaves two sons, Craig A. Ashmore and Stephen C. Ashmore, both of Winchendon.  She also leaves four grandchildren, Clayton, Whitney and Troy Ashmore, all of Winchendon, and USAF Staff Sgt Kelsea Ashmore of Ramstein, Germany as well as six step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 31st at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street are Saturday, October 31st from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. preceding the mass.

Memorial donations may be made to Winchendon Fire Department, 405 Central Street, Winchendon, MA 01475 or to Beacon Hospice, 36 William Street, Leominster, MA 01453.
