ORANGE – Ethel M. (Watson) Vollertson, 93, of East River Street, died peacefully Tuesday morning, February 3rd in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
She was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 20, 1921, daughter of the late James and Ethel (Scovil) Watson. Ethel grew up in New Jersey and lived in Royalston for 25 years. She then moved to Lake Elsinore, CA where she lived for 25 years before moving to Orange in 2003.
Ethel was a graduate of Montclair University, Montclair, NJ and earned her Master’s Degree at Keene State University. For several years, she had been a biology professor at Franklin Pierce University, Rindge, NH. She was a member of Orange Congregational Church and a member of the Elks. Her hobbies were gardening and enjoying music.
Her husband, Herbert J. Vollertson, died in 1989. She leaves a daughter, Doris A. Vollertson of Gardner.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in Cathedral of the Pines, Rindge, NH.
