WINCHENDON – Eugene L. Casavant, 83, of 131 Ipswich Drive, Winchendon died peacefully Friday afternoon, May 10th at the home of his daughter in Winchendon.
He was born in Winchendon on June 22, 1929, son of the late Henry and Ruth (LeClair) Casavant and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon.
Eugene worked for Baldwinville Paper Products for many years until his retirement. Previously, he worked as a drywaller at Toy Town Drywall Co. An avid golfer, he was a member of Winchendon Country Club, where he played in its Senior League. Eugene was a member of the former Pool League at Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion. A devoted family man, he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and brothers. Eugene loved the Town of Winchendon and enjoyed driving his car. He was also lover of the old Western movies.
His wife, Charlene R. (Hill) Casavant, died in 2011. He leaves four children, Eric Casavant of Winchendon, Lee Grincewicz of Winhendon, Donna Hussing of Enfield, Ct and JoAnn Undewrwood of Enfield, CT; his brothers, Philip Casavant of Winchendon, Dennis Casavant of Winchendon, David Casavant of Winchendon and Rita Bolton of CA, five grandchildren, eight grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, Henry Casavant Jr and Richard Casavant and two sisters, Helen Richards and Rachel Raymond.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 15th at 3 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Jay Lillie will officiate. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Wednesday from 1 to 3 PM preceding the funeral service.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
