ASHBURNHAM – Evelyn M. Fletcher, 83, of 2 Corey Road, Ashburnham, died peacefully Tuesday evening, January 11 th at her residence, with her family at her side.
She was born in Rindge, NH on August 21, 1927, the daughter of the late Frederick O. and Dorothy L. (Bartlett) Fletcher and lived in Ashburnham for 70 years.
Evelyn was a 1946 graduate of Fitchburg High School. She worked for many years at the former Nichols and Stone Furniture Company in Gardner as head chair decorator, until her retirement. She previously worked for two years as a kitchen aide at Cushing Academy and then worked for seven years at Curtis Industries. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Forever Young Club in Ashburnham. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
She leaves a brother, Burton L. Fletcher of Ashburnham; two sisters, Barbara L. Streeter of Greenfield and Ruby M. Shannon of Lunenburg and seven nieces and nephews. A brother, Floyd O. Fletcher, predeceased her in 1977.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
Private burial will be in New Cemetery, Ashburnham in the spring.
