GARDNER – Ferdinand H. Couture, 82, of 71 Lake Street, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, July 22nd, in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He was born in Gardner on September 6, 1931, son of the late Edmond A. and Genevieve L. (LaBossiere) Couture and was a lifelong resident of Gardner.
Ferdinand owned and operated the former Shield Guard Service, a security service which employed 42 people at one time. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean War as a member of Fighter Squadron EIGHTY-FOUR. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Medal. A member for over 60 years of American Legion Post #129 of Gardner, he was also a past commander.
His wife, Joyce Rita (DuVerger) Couture, died in 2012. He leaves a son, Charles M. Couture of Templeton, a stepdaughter, Andrea Hutton of Imperial, CA., a brother, Paul Couture of Gardner and sister-in-law, Paula Ball of Livingston, Texas.

A private military funeral service will be held in Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon..
