WINCHENDON – Francis H. “Frank” Girouard, 81, of 52 Elmwood Road, Winchendon, died Monday afternoon, January 14th in Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, with his family at his side.
He was born in Winchendon on April 30, 1931, son of the late Henry C. and F. Edith (Morlock) Girouard, graduated from Murdock High School and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon.
Frank owned and operated Murdock Farm with his two brothers for many years. He was known for his generosity to his customers. He was a firefighter for the Town of Winchendon for over 20 years. Frank had been a member of the board of directors of the former Marquette Credit Union. He was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post #193 American Legion and enjoyed going to agricultural fairs.
During the Korean War, Frank proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force
He leaves his wife of 58 years, A. June (Burns) Girouard; two daughters, Jana L. Girouard and Cheryl A. Benson and her husband Brian Benson Sr; two brothers, Raymond E. Girouard and Kenneth J. Girouard and his wife June; grandchildren, Kira Benson, Brian Benson Jr and Adam McKenney, and two great grandchildren, Ethan Girouard and Brendan Girouard, as well as nephews and nieces. A grandson, Bryn Girouard and a sister-in-law, Josephine Girouard, predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Friday, January 18th in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. Deacon James Connor will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Thursday, January 17th from 5 to 8 PM. Members of Eugene M. Connor Post #193 will perform a Legion service at 7 P.M.
