WINCHENDON - Francis J. "F.O." O'Malley, Jr., 65, of 189 Spring Street, Winchendon, died Thursday, March 26th in Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston. He was born in Winchendon on May 23,1943, the son of Virginia M. (LaFalam) O'Malley of Winchendon and the late Francis J. O'Malley, Sr., and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon. F.O. graduated from Murdock High School in 1962 and then entered the Army. He proudly served from 1962 to 1965 and was stationed in Panama. After returning to Winchendon, he went to barbering school and then opened Frank's Barber Shop, which he operated until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and was an organizer of the church bazaars back in the 80's. He was a former Little League Coach and Cub Scout den leader. A fan of all of the Boston home professional sports teams, Frank was a big fan of the Boston Celtics. He also enjoyed golfing and was a former member of the Winchendon Lions Club. In addition to his mother, he leaves his wife of 43 years, Blanca R. (Olmos) O'Malley; two children, Elizabeth A. LeBlanc and her husband Ronald of Leominster and Francis J. "Franco" O'Malley 3rd of Winchendon; seven brothers, Joseph E. O'Malley of Athol, Timothy J. O'Malley of Athol, Rev. Dennis O. O'Malley of Worcester, Michael A. O'Malley of York Beach, ME., Daniel B. O'Malley of Rindge, NH, Charles A. O'Malley of Winchendon and Robert N. O'Malley of Athol; two sisters, Theresa M. O'Dea of Winchendon and Virginia A. Parkhurst of Winchendon; five grandchildren, Andrew LeBlanc, Meghan LeBlanc, Gabrielle LeBlanc, Stephanie LeBlanc and Veronica LeBlanc, all of Leominster and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Francis O'Malley, who died at birth, and a brother, Donald M. "Dee" O'Malley Sr., who died in 2002. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 30th from the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Sunday, March 29th from 5 to 8 P.M.
