WINCHENDON – Francis J. Richards, 81, formerly of 556 Central Street, Winchendon, died peacefully Wednesday evening, November 30th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester.
He was born in Winchendon on January 27, 1930, the son of the late Edward H. and Margaret E. (Finn) Richards and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon.
Francis worked for many years as a machinist for American Can Company until his retirement. Very athletic, he was an avid tennis player and enjoyed hunting, ice skating, archery, dancing, table tennis, electronics and photography. He once shot a five point buck.
His wife of 52 years, Ruth M. (Lawrence) Richards, died on June 20th of this year. He leaves three sisters, Nancy Deese of Olalla,WA., Carol A. Higgins of Jaffrey, NH and Margaret M. Tomasetti of Keene, NH and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate. A calling hour will be held Tuesday from 10 to 11 A.M., preceding the funeral.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon.
