It is with deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Frederick G. Monette on December 15, 2023.
Born on January 12, 1935, in Winchendon, MA, Frederick's life was marked by hard work and selfless devotion to his loved ones.
Frederick is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Virginia (Blake) Monette, daughters Gina Monette-Smith, Julie Monette-Johnson, and Briana Monette-Harris; his six grandchildren Alexis Monette, Raven Monette, Ricki Monette, Bria Monette-Harris, Sabrina Monette-Harris and Frederick Monette-Harris; six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his brother Norman Monette. He was predeceased by his parents Edgar Monette and Hazel (Nason) Monette, siblings Howard, Robert, Eleanor (Nadeau), Lawrence, and Richard Monette.
Fred was a carpenter for many years. He could fix and build anything - from houses to cars. He owned and operated “Fred's Barbershop” in Winchendon, spent 15 dedicated years at Digital and continued to work until the impressive age of 80, driving a van for Mart Transport Co.
Nicknamed “Pony” in his youth, Fred found joy in ice racing and motorcycle riding. He enjoyed spending time fishing and camping at Lake Dennison. He loved car racing, watching sports (especially the Red Sox) and was a fan of Elvis Presley. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Gardner.
Frederick’s commitment and determination were an inspiration to all who knew him. His legacy will live on in our hearts and memories.
A celebration of life is being planned for after the holidays and a graveside service will be held in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.
