GARDNER – Frederik S. Givskud, 84, of 116 Street, died peacefully Monday morning, June 27, 2016 in The Highlands, Fitchburg, with his family as his side.
He was born in New Brunswick, Canada on December 18, 1931, son of the late Hans and Elizabeth Givskud and moved to this country in 1960. He had lived in Worcester, in Clinton for many years and then moved to Sterling, where he lived until moving to Gardner.
Fred had worked at Woven Crafts in Clinton, where he made labels for shirts. He then worked for General Motors in Framingham and Tarrytown, NY as an assembler for ten years until his retirement. Fred enjoyed bingo and fishing. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
His wife, Joan Marie (Witherington) Givskud, died in1967. He leaves a son, Wallace H. Givskud of West Boylston; four daughters, Ann E. Speicher of Fort Worth, TX, Ada L. Girouard of Ashburnham, Doris H. Goodsell of Buffalo, NY and Karen M. Woods of Gardner; a brother, Mogens Givskud of New Brunswick, Canada; two sisters, Eva Skaarup and Ada Givskud, both of New Brunswick, Canada; 8 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Johan Givskud, predeceased him.
Private graveside services will be held in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
