GARDNER – Gertrude H. (Aucoin) Gallant, 83, of 125 Connors Street, died peacefully Monday, October 12th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
She was born in Gardner on March 16, 1932, daughter of the late Angus and Helen (Jaillet) Aucoin and was a lifelong resident of Gardner. Gertrude attended Holy Rosary School and graduated in 1950 from Gardner High School.
Gertrude worked for 17 years as an assembler at Simplex until her retirement in 1994. She was lifelong member of Holy Rosary Church/Anunciation Parish. Her hobbies were playing bingo, crocheting, camping and she was a former Cub Scout den mother. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
Her husband of 62 years, Donald J. “Zizzy” Gallant, died December 30, 2013. She leaves three sons, Raymond W. Gallant and his wife Monika of Templeton, Robert D. Gallant of Gardner and Ronald F. Gallant and his husband John Terho of Fitchburg; a grandson Kristopher R. Gallant of Templeton and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Roger A. Gallant; a grandson, Adam R. Gallant and her brothers and sisters, Theresa Aucoin, William Aucoin, Joseph Aucoin, Rose Vautour and Lucille Jaillet.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 17th at 9:30 A.M. in Anunciation Parish, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Saturday, October 17th from 8:00 to 9:0 A.M. preceding the mass.
Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon at a later date.
