WINCHENDON – Gino Antonioni, 86, of 156 School Street, died peacefully Monday afternoon, June 16th at the home of his daughter, with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Cartoceto, Italy on February 10, 1928, son of the late Tersillo and Elisa (Nardini) Antonioni and came to this country aboard the Andrea Doria in 1956. Since that time, he had lived in Winchendon.
Gino worked for many years as a mason for W.P. Hildreth’s Masonry until his retirement. He was a long time member for Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Gino was the last surviving member of the Italian-American Club Lodge#176 of Winchendon. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, gardening and working with his flowers. He was very generous in sharing his home grown tomatoes.
His wife, Ilde (Boiani) Antonioni, died in 1986. He leaves two children, Genetto M. Antonioni and his wife Laureen of Claremont, NH and Derna Thomas and her husband Christopher of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Derek Antonioni, Alec Antonioni, Marc Thomas and Angela Thomas; two sisters, Annita Tonelli and Guerrina Bacchioci, both of Italy and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelina Tesei, Zaira Antonioni, Emilia Roscini and Maria Sanchioni.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 20th at 11 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Thursday, June 19th from 5 to 7 P.M. and Friday, June 20th from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M.
