WINCHENDON – Guy E. Tenney, Jr., 77, of 40 West Street, Winchendon, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, February 5th, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.

He was born in Winchendon on October 27, 1933, son of the late Guy E. and Evelyn M. (Thibeault) Tenney and had lived in Winchendon for most of his life.

Guy entered the Army at the age of 17 and proudly served during the Korean War with Co N 508th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. He was awarded the Parachute Badge, Purple Heart, United Nations Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with Two Bronze Service Stars and the National Defense Service Medal. During the War, he earned his GED.

Guy was a general contractor and owned and operated Tenney’s Contracting for several years. He later owned and operated Tenney’s Trading Post and owned and operated Toy Town Oil of Winchendon. Guy enjoyed buying and selling and he bought and sold many houses in the Winchendon area.

Guy was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion and the Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 VFW. He especially treasured time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Arline (Maliska) Tenney; four children, Daniel Tenney and his wife, Linda of Winchendon and their children Christina, Emily and Beau; Kirk Tenney of Winchendon and his children Tiffany, Victoria, MacKenzie and Jacob; Amy Mizhir and her husband Joseph of Winchendon and their children Tucker and Joey; Timothy Tenney and his wife Suzanne of Fitchburg and their children Michael and Alysha Raimo; his daughter in law Lisa Tenney of Winchendon and their children Guy M., Jenna and Shea; two great grandchildren, Randi Murphy and Alex Rodriguez; one brother, Bradford Tenney of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Barbara Watson of Winchendon and several nephews and nieces. A son, Guy R. Tenney, died in 1996. He was also predeceased by a brother, Ronald W. Tenney.

A private funeral service will be held in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon with the Rev. Francis A. Roberge officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in the spring.
