GARDNER – Harold E. Hobby, II, 66, of Gardner, died peacefully Saturday evening, July 11th in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner.
He was born in Chicago, IL on September 15, 1948, son of the late James D. and Charlotte (Blanchard) Hobby and graduated from Elgin High School and Middlesex Community College. He moved to Massachusetts 13 years ago.
Harold worked as a graphic arts designer and computer programmer. His hobbies were listening to old time radio, classical music and enjoying his model trains. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Navy Expeditionary Medals.
He leaves three children, Harold Edgar Hobby III and Aaron Hobby of Green Bay, Wisconsin and Shiloh Spredemann of De Pere, Wisconsin; a brother, Ward Hobby of Slidell, LA; his stepmother, Lillian Hobby of Winchendon; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews.
Military funeral services will be held Friday, July 17th at 2 PM in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. There are no calling hours.
