PHILLIPSTON - Hazel M. (Whitney) Haggett, 69, of 45 Old Highland Avenue North, Phillipston, died peacefully Sunday evening, November 9th in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, after a long illness. She was born in Swanzey, New Hampshire on September 3,1939, the daughter of Everett C. and Lennie Faith (Harris) Whitney and lived in Gardner in her early years. She had lived in Phillipston for most of her life. Hazel had worked as a nurse's aide many years ago in Gardner and Baldwinville. She enjoyed attending crafts shows, knitting, crocheting and ceramics. At one time she taught ceramics and was a former Cub Scout leader. Hazel was a graduate of Athol High School. She leaves her husband of 50 years, Ewell D. "Don" Haggett; three sons, E. Donald Haggett, Jr. and his wife April of Phillipston; Steven C. Haggett and his wife Kathryn of Phillipston and Garrett W. Haggett and his wife Carla of Winchendon; a daughter, Kathleen L. Haggett of Phillipston; two brothers, Quimby Whitney of Gardner and Raymond Whitney of KY.; two sisters, Myrtle Zablonski of Baldwinville and Marilyn Bell of Mars Hill, ME.; two grandsons, Steven C. Haggett Jr. and Jamie Haggett; a great granddaughter, Caitlyn Haggett; a great grandson, Jaxon Haggett and several nephews and nieces. A son, James M. Haggett, died in 1993. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 13th at 11 A.M. in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. Her brother-in-law, Wendell Bell, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Thursday, November 13th from 10 to 11 A.M.
