SANTA MONICA, CA – Henry L. Duval, 80, of Santa Monica, CA and formerly of Winchendon, died unexpectedly August 29 th , 2011 at his residence.
He was born in Winchendon on May 30, 1931, the son of the late Joseph O. and Lucienne (Boulanger) Duval. Henry grew up in Winchendon and graduated from Murdock High School with the Class of 1950.
Henry proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, which he joined after his graduation. For many years, he resided in Santa Monica where he was an apartment manager and where he was a three time State Champion in Heavy Weight Olympic Lifts . He has been nominated for Induction in to the Muscle Beach Venice Hall of Fame. Henry was a member of the Santa Monica Fire Department Disaster Assistance Response Team and saved at least six people during the 1994 Northridge Earthquake by opening up a doorway so people could escape.
He leaves his nieces and nephews, Jeannette Mossman of Gardner, Philip Morin of Winchendon, Maurice Morin of Fitchburg and Peggy Morin of Keene, NH as well as several grand nieces and grand nephews.
Military funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 29 th at 10 A.M. in Masachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate.
Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon is directing arrangements.
