WINCHENDON – Henry J. Girard, 85, of 71 North Street, Winchendon died Monday, August 27th, at his residence.
He was born in Winchendon on November 5, 1926, the son of the late Victor and Phoebe (Michaud) Girard and was a resident of Winchendon for most of his life.
Henry was a self-employed auto body repairman for many years until his retirement. During World War Two, Henry proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He attained the rank of Seaman First Class and was awarded the World War Two Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal and European-African Theatre Medal. He was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post #193 American Legion and Lt Frederick Wilder White Post #2158 of Winchendon.
He leaves a daughter, Charlene S. Lyesiuk and her husband Nikolaus of Orange; three grandsons and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by nephews, as well as his long time friend, Kenneth LaBrack of Winchendon. His long time companion, Alice Carrier, died in 2010. His brother, Albert W. Girard, predeceased him, in 1984.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 18th at 1 PM in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon. There are no calling hours.
