WINCHENDON - Henry J. Hamel. 76, of Winchendon, passed away in his home, surrounded by his loving family Friday evening, June 16, 2017.
Henry was born August 13, 1940 in Gardner, MA, son of Edward and Edith (Gingrass) Hamel. He attended and graduated from Gardner High School in 1959. Henry was a life member of the Templeton Fish and Game Club. He was also a member of Mission Street Congregational Church of Gardner. He played in a band along side of Dick LaFortune. Henry enjoyed watching Boston Red Sox games on television. He enjoyed family time as well as playing with his grandchildren. He owned and operated Henry J. Hamel and Sons painting and wallpapering for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Phyllis of Winchendon; his brother Raymond Hamel of Baldwinville; daughter Lisa Hamel of Templeton, sons Thomas Meador III and wife Connie of Homosassa, FL, Henry Hamel and wife Brandy of Gardner, Robert Hamel and wife Magen of Gardner and Gary Hamel and wife Meredith of Winchendon.
He also leaves his many grandchildren, Robert, Josh, Chase, Brian, Patrick, Isabelle, Lillian, Anastasia, Rose, Mason, Bryan, Steven, Christopher, Jonathan, Todd, Dora, James who is joining the family next month, and four great grandchildren, Eric, Emma, Audrie and Jason.
Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 5 to 7 P.M.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 11 A.M. in Mission Street Congregational Church, 15 Mission Street, Gardner. Refreshments will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mission Street Congregational Church, 15 Mission Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
