WINCHENDON - Herve J. "Gus" Soucy, 74, of 61 Pond Street, Winchendon, died peacefully Wednesday evening, August 19th in Health Alliance Hospital, Leominster, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and educated in Gardner on February 23,1935, the son of the late Cyriac and Dulcina (Bourret) Soucy and had lived in Winchendon for many years. Gus was a truck driver for 20 years for Eastern Propane until his retirement. Following his retirement, he worked for ten years as a custodian for RCAP Solutions in Gardner. He was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion and Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Gus was an avid pool player and was a member of American Pool Players Association. He also enjoyed fishing, canoeing, kayaking and horse shoes. Gus proudly served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1958. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Lea C. (Caouette) Soucy; two sons, Robert P. Soucy and his wife Barbara of Winchendon and Brian P. Soucy and his wife Drenna of Merritt Island, FL; one daughter, Jean A. Thibodeau and her husband John of Dalton; five sisters, Loretta Fournier and her husband Roger of Stuart, FL, Rosemarie Frazier and her husband Norman of Englewood, FL, Alda Roy and her husband Emil of West Palm Beach, FL, Gloria Propiescus of West Palm Beach, Fl and Lillian Menard and her husband Benoit of West Palm Beach, FL; a sister-in-law, Edna Ringuette of Gardner; a brother-in-law Robert Perrault of Gardner; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son, Richard J. "Rick" Soucy, who died in 2004, a brother, Claude Ringuette and a sister Theresa Perrault. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 24th from Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Sunday, August 23rd from 6 to 8 P.M. with a Legion Service at 7 P.M.
