It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a remarkable man, James D. Alie (Jim), born on October 3, 1935, in Gardner, MA. A lifelong Templeton resident, Jim was a beacon of unwavering strength, humility, and dedication, always putting his family first. His spirit characterized by his ambitious nature and witty sense of humor, will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jim’s work ethic was evident in his long-standing career as a Supervisor at H&R gun manufacturing in Gardner, Plant Supervisor at Temple Stuart Furniture, Lily Chemical, and Seth Thomas Company. His dedication was not only confined to his work but stretched into his personal interests. He was an avid woodworker, a skill he honed with patience and precision, a testament to his humble nature. His love for traveling, especially the memorable trips to Twin River, cross-country trips, Alaska Cruise, Las Vegas trips, and spending winter months in Florida with his late wife Ruth, to name a few, added to the richness of his life. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Baldwinville American Legion, and President of the Otter River Recreation Association, contributing his time and energy to these organizations.
Jim served in the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Jim furthered his military career in the National Guard. He was very proud of his military service and serving the country.
Jim’s faith was an integral part of his life. He served as a Eucharist Minister at St Martins Church in Otter River and was heavily involved in all fundraising events for the church. His dedication to service was driven by his belief in the words from the Book of Matthew 25:40, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Hilda (Sund) Alie, and his wife, Ruth Alie (Nasiatka) Jim is survived by his children, Joanne Goguen (Clayton), James Alie, (Debra), and Jackie Johnson.
