RINDGE, NH – James K. Chenausky, 78, of 23 Country Meadow Drive, Rindge, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, January 28th in Monadnock Community Hospital, Peterborough, NH.

He was born in Athol, MA on February 9, 1935, son of the late Victor and Emma E. (Bennett) Chenausky and was a graduate of Orange High School.  For over 20 years, he had lived in Rindge.

Jim was a self employed landscaper, running his own business in High Point, NC.  He also worked as a chef the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, NC.  He enjoyed gardening, golf and fishing.  He would often cook every Monday at the First Congregational Church of Rindge.  During the Korean War, Jim proudly served his country as a member of the Marine Corps.

He leaves his wife, Betty A. (Lawson) Salahna Chenausky; three children, John Chenausky and his wife Lisa of Mayodan, NC, Dawn Kelly and her daughter Avery of Derby, VT and Bradford Chenausky and his wife Christy of Linville, NC; four stepchildren, Tom Salahna and wife Dianne of Orange and grandchildren Jordan and Justin Salahna; Jon Salahna and his wife Darlene of Athol and grandchildren, Shannon and Torey Salahna; Cheryl Chaisson of Athol and grandchildren Andrew and Zachary Chaisson and Salli Knechtel and her husband Karl of Athol and grandson Derrick Knechtel; a brother Laurie Lawson and wife Dee Dee of Missouri; sisters May Burgess and husband Richard of Winchendon and Cynthia Hennard of VT and several nephews and nieces.  A sister, Marlene Atwood, predeceased him.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 3rd at 11:30 AM in The First Congregational Church of Rindge, 6 Payson Hill Road, Rindge with the Rev. David Jadlocki officiating.

Burial, with military honors, will follow at 1 PM in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon, MA.
