GARDNER – James M. Raymond, 78, of 46 Glenwood Street, formerly of Winchendon, died peacefully Monday morning, September 22nd in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.

He was born in Winchendon on April 18, 1936, son of the late Joseph and Alice (Enright) Raymond and was a 1954 graduate of Murdock High School.  He later attended Worcester Trade School.  During the Korean War, Jim proudly served his country as a member of United States Air Force.  For the last four years, he had lived in Gardner.

Jim worked as a tool maker and machinist.  He had worked at Simplex and later owned and operated the former TC Tool Co. of East Templeton.  His last employment was working for Nuclear Metals in Concord, MA, where he was a supervisor.  He loved to hunt and fish and found his greatest enjoyment spending time with his family and grandchildren.  Jim had served as an assistant coach with the varsity softball team at Murdock High School.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Rosemary C. (Thayer) Raymond; two children, Kevin J. Raymond and his significant other Pamela Hayes of Winchendon and Allison C. Vinkels and her husband Gunars of West Boylston; six grandchildren, Siobhan Raymond, Patrick Raymond, Aleks Vinkels, Juliana Vinkels, Marissa Vinkels and Gabriella Vinkels; two brothers, Edward Raymond and his wife Mary of Westminster and Kenneth Raymond and his wife Holly of Gardner and several nieces and nephews.  A sister, Joan Pineault, preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 26th at 11:30 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon.  Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.

Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Thursday, September 25th from 5 to 7 P.M.
