WINCHENDON - Jean L. (Gauthier) Rocheleau, 71, of 17 Old Gardner Road, Winchendon, died peacefully Sunday, September 7th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner. She was born in Gardner on June 5,1937, the daughter of Jean and Agnes (Borey) Gauthier and had lived in Winchendon for many years. Jean was an upholsterer for many years and retired from E.S.P. Lock Co. in Leominster. She previously worked at the former O'Hearns and Thayer Manufacturing Co. A licensed beautician, Jean worked at Rob Roy Hair Salon at the Searstown Mall, and was a graduate of Wilfred Beauty School Academy in Worcester. Jean had also completed classes in cake decorating and seamstressing and she made wedding cakes for many years. Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting, and she also enjoyed snowmobiling and watching baseball. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Jean was a former matron of the Royal Cadets Drum Corps. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Winchendon and attended the former Templeton High School. Her husband of 48 years, Joseph C. Rocheleau, died last year. She leaves five children, Dale A. Derby and her husband David of Winchendon, Denise M. Salo and her husband Robert of Ashburnham, Dennis J. Rocheleau of Winchendon, Lisa L. Hunt and her husband Curtis J. of Winchendon and Marie R. Hebert and her husband Eric of Ashburnham; two brothers, Michael Gauthier of Falmouth and Wilfred Gauthier of Gardner; five sisters, Linda Martin of Winchendon, Maralyn Hammonds of Athol, Marieanne Flagg of Canby, Oregon, Lois Boshans of Fitchburg and Christine Gammell of Ashburnham; ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph C. "Rocky" Rocheleau, Jr., a brother, Charles A. Gauthier and three sisters, Anne Patriquin, Theresa Flagg and Harriet Rogler. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 12th from the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday, September 11th from 6 to 8 P.M.
