FITCHBURG – Jean M. Fredette, 90 of Fitchburg, died peacefully Friday morning, August 1st in Golden Living Center, Fitchburg.
She was born in Winchendon on November 27, 1923 to the late Marguerite (Parrott) Murray and John E. Murray, Sr. Jean grew up in Winchendon and graduated from Murdock High School with the Class of 1941. She worked at the former Winchendon Hospital and later for Dr. John Thibault, D.D.S. She retired from Goodhue Marine in Leominster.
Jean was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling and went on many trips near and far with her close friends and classmates, Lorraine Hunt and Betty Brehio.
She leaves her husband, Henry Fredette of Fitchburg; her son Scott Murray and his wife Ann of Portland, ME and her brother John E. Murray Jr of Winchendon. She also leaves many nieces and nephews including Michael and Cindy Darcy, Maureen Provost, Lynn and John Murray and Wayne and Mark Murray. She also leaves eight grand nieces and nephews and several great grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert and Richard Murray; her sister Elizabeth Darcy and her nephew Sean Murray.
Her wit and wisdom will be greatly missed, as will her stories of her family and growing up in “the patch” of Winchendon.
Funeral services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. The family asks that donations in her memory be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, 2048 W. Fairview Ave, Montgomery, AL 36108 or to A Better Tomorrow Shelter for Cats, 202 Central Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.
