Joan A. (Adams) Ellis

ASHBURNHAM – Joan A. (Adams) Ellis, 76, of Ashburnham formerly of Gardner and Templeton, died peacefully at her home on Lower Naukeag Lake, Thursday evening, December 13th, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Templeton on June 6, 1936, daughter of the late Orville W. and Myrl C. (Williams) Adams and was a resident of Ashburnham for many years.

Joan was a 1954 graduate of Templeton High School and worked for New England Telephone for many years, retiring as a customer service representative.  She worked for the telephone company since the age of 19, taking time off only to have children.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with family and friends at her lake house in Ashburnham.  She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren swimming, boating, tubing and water skiing.  She was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast and also enjoyed watching NASCAR and she was a huge fan of the New England Patriots.

She leaves her husband of 49 years, Gary N. Ellis; four children, Susan Hitchcock-Gale and her husband Russ of Ashburnham, Sandra (Hitchcock) White and her fiancé Ron Robichaud of Ashburnham, Sherri (Ellis) Brogan and her husband Patrick of Gardner and Scott Ellis and his wife Joy of Ashburnham.  She also leaves her grandchildren, David, Terrick, Tory, Teddy and Heather; several great grandchildren, Tamara, Trevor, Mia, Terrick, Jolin, Ty and Sylis; two brothers, David Adams and his wife Bonnie of Athol and Jack Adams of Bellows Falls, VT and several nephews and nieces.  A granddaughter, Krislin, predeceased her in 2006.

Funeral services will be private and the convenience of the family.  There are no calling hours.
