Winchendon-John Phillip Cyganiewicz, 82, died Sunday, September 18, 2022 at his home after an illness.
He leaves his wife, Esther (Wedge) Cyganiewicz; his children, Brenda Gallant and her husband Leo of Gardner, Scott Cyganiewicz and his wife Suzette of Gardner, John Cyganiewicz and and his wife, Sumaya of Winchendon, Timothy Cyganiewicz of Gardner and Catherine Leslie and her husband Scott of Winchendon; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Cyganiewicz and his wife Virginia of Winchendon; many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Judith (Thomas) Cyganiewicz in 2001, a son, Christopher Cyganiewicz and a daughter Terry Cyganiewicz.
He was born in Gardner, on December 27, 1939 a son of the late John and Phyllis (Austin) Cyganiewicz. He graduated from Narragansett High School. John was a self-employed carpenter. He proudly served in the Army National Guard and was a member of and past commander and chaplain of Post 193 American Legion in Winchendon.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting, traveling and racing canoes.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. with a service at 1:00 p.m. in the Stone Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.
Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in John’s name to the Care Central VNA and Hospice, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440
