TEMPLETON – John R. S. LeClerc, 50, of 154 Baldwinville Road, died peacefully Sunday morning, June 12
th
in Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, with his family at his side.
He was born in Gardner on
January 16
, 1961, the son of Roland J. and Joan (Comee) LeClerc of Templeton, and was a resident of Templeton for most of his life.
John was a Technology Engineering teacher at Narragansett Middle School, Baldwinville for the last ten years. He was a1979 graduate of Narragansett Regional High School and was also a graduate of Fitchburg State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He earned his Master’s Degree in Technology Education at Leslie College. John also received an
Associates Degree
in Automotive Technology, as well as Business Administration from Mt. Wachusett
Community College
in Gardner.
John was very instrumental in the six year development of the
wind turbine
behind Narragansett Regional High School. In his honor, the wind turbine was named the
John R. S.
LeClerc Wind
Turbine at a dedication ceremony in September of 2010. John was a former member of the Narragansett School Committee, where he played a major part in the construction of the new Narragansett Regional High School. He was a cofounder of the
Green Energy Education
Collaborative, also known as the “GEEC Squad.”
An avid runner, John participated in seven marathons, including running in three
Boston Marathons
. He was most proud of running the original marathon route in Greece.
He was an active cyclist and rode his bike from Templeton to Maine over 25 times. He also created video productions and enjoyed playing his guitar. John also was an adventurous world traveler. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he leaves behind two daughters, Nissa L. LeClerc of
Leominster
and Jessica J. LeClerc of Templeton; two granddaughters, Aine Thornton and Haydin LeClerc; five sisters, Catherine McCaffrey and her husband Kevin of Gardner, Deborah Duguay and her husband Bruce of Templeton, Cindy Houston and her husband Will of Templeton, Tammy LaFalam of Templeton and Carole Mullins of Phillipston, as well as many nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held Thursday, June 16
th
at 4 P.M. behind Narragansett Regional High School at the base of the John R. S. LeClerc Wind Turbine. Anyone who has been touched by John’s inspiration is invited to attend.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 17
th
from 4 to 8 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18
th
at 11 A.M. in the First Church of Templeton, Templeton Common. The Rev. Stephanie Flynn and the Rev. William Ault will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date.
