Joseph C. Dwyer passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. He was born in Fitchburg and was the son of Joseph C. Dwyer and Hazel T. (Whittemore) Dwyer.

Joe loved his family. He was predeceased by the two loves of his life. His wife Barbara M. (Efverman) Dwyer and, recently, his beloved partner Joan E. (LeBlanc) Billiter.

Joe is survived by his son, Sean M. Dwyer, and his fiance Deborah Marland, 3 granddaughters and 6 great-grandchildren. Joe was predeceased by his other children, Holly (Dwyer) Roberts, Tod Dwyer and Craig Dwyer.

Joe served in the U.S. Navy as a Corpsman. He is a Korean War Combat Veteran. In 2018, Joe received the Ambassador for Peace Medal from the Republic of Korea.

Joe is a 1962 graduate of Fitchburg State Teachers College (now Fitchburg State University) with a degree in Industrial Arts. He is a retired Industrial Arts teacher from Murdock High School, Winchendon, MA, where he was the Jr.-Sr. Class Advisor for the Class of 1982.

Joe is a longtime member of Beth Eden Baptist Church in Fitchburg. Joe loved to volunteer his time working with kids at church, and he spent many summers volunteering at Frontier Camp, in Lovell, Maine.

The family would like to thank Sterling Village, Autumn Hospice, Health Alliance Hospice, Dr. Belian Gage, Leominster Hospital ER and Foster Wing Nurses and Staff and Eliot Nottleson, Winchendon Health Care and Dr. Edward Sprague (VA Health Care) for the wonderful care given to Joe over the years.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a funeral service at 1:00PM, Friday, July 12, 2024 at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon, MA. (Route 202) Please arrive by 12:45 p.m. 

Arrangements are under the care of Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home of Winchendon, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in memory of Joe, to Beth Eden Baptist Church, 350 Ashburnham Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
