WINCHENDON – Joseph C. Rocheleau, 70, of 17 Old Gardner Road, died at home Wednesday, September 26, 2007.
He was born in Winchendon on August 5, 1937, son of the late Maximin S. and Coranna M. (Hardy) Rocheleau and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon.
Joe was a self-employed mechanic, working at home. He previously worked for 15 years at Gardner Creamery and for Dufault Saw Dust Company, where he worked as a truck mechanic and truck driver. Joe was a member of National Rifle Association and Fitchburg Sportsmans Club. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, 4 wheeling and spending time on his boat. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 48 years, Jean L. (Gauthier) Rocheleau; five children, Dale A. Derby and her husband David of Winchendon, Denise M. Salo and her husband Robert of Ashburnham, Dennis J. Rocheleau of Winchendon, Lisa L. Hunt and her husband Curtis of Winchendon and Marie R. Hebert and her husband Eric of Ashburnham; his brothers and sisters, Roland J. Rocheleau, Maurice S. Rocheleau, Alfred F. Rocheleau and George S. Rocheleau, all of Winchendon, Anna M. Cormier of Leominster, Cecile R. May of Winchendon, Rita M. Elola of Winchendon and Theresa A. Thurlow of Winchendon; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Joseph C. “Rocky) Rocheleau Jr and a brother, Arthur J. Rocheleau Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
