HUBBARDSTON – Joseph M. Thibodeau, 63, of 112 Gardner Road, died peacefully Sunday evening, February 7th, at his residence, with his family at his side, after a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma.
He was born in Gardner on June 10, 1952, son of the late Joseph O. and Phyllis (Fontneau) Thibodeau and was a resident of Hubbardston for many years. Joe was a 1970 graduate of Gardner High School and attended University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Joe proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1980 to 1987. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Navy Achievement Medal. Joe worked as an electronic engineer for many years. His last employment was at Harrington and Richardson in Gardner until his retirement. His hobbies were boating, fishing, hunting and camping, He also enjoyed playing his guitar.
He leaves his wife of 24 years, Nancy A. (Kauppinen) Thibodeau; two stepsons, Jeffrey E. Casey and his wife Alisha of Hubbardston and Eric E. Casey and his fiancé Jennifer Coe and her two children, Olivia and Brielle; two grandchildren, Alianna Casey and Ashlynn Casey; a sister, Patricia Dakota and her husband David of Hubbardston; a nephew, Chris Campbell of Gardner; his best friends, Ed and Marion Strait of Templeton; his dog and faithful companion Emmabelle and many friends from Lake Dean Campground in Oakham.
Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Wednesday, February 10th from 5 to 7 P.M., with a service to follow at 7 P.M.
Burial will be in Rural Glen Cemetery, Hubbardston in the spring.
