ROYALSTON – Joyce A (Owens) Fortin, 71 of Royalston, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 in UMASS Memorial Hospital, University Campus, Worcester with family beside her.
She was born on February 16, 1951 in Wood River, Illinois to the late Buddie Lee Owens and Ethol Irene (Howard) Owens. She attended Roxana Community High School in Roxana, IL. She attended Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner. Joyce was an assembler for Digital Equipment Company for many years. She later worked as a sales associate at Wal-Mart until retirement.
Joyce loved making people smile and laugh, making new friends throughout all her journeys, being the most loving Mother and Grandmother, dancing, singing, shopping, and traveling. She was known by her closest friends and family as “Sunshine”.
Joyce is survived by her daughter Amanda Harmon of Royalston; two grandchildren Kamryn Harmon and Ryan Taft; sisters: Lois and Dwayne Hebert of Templeton, Georgia Kay Finkbeiner and Pam MClatchy of Memphis, TN, Margie and Herb Johnson of Hartford, IL, Claudia Albert of Hartford, IL; brother James Owens and Karen of Roxana, IL.
She was predeceased by her husband of 29 years: Norman Fortin and her brothers David and Thomas Owens.
Calling Hours will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 9am to 11am in Stone Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central St., Winchendon, MA.
A graveside service at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in New Ipswich, NH will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joyce’s name may be sent to Carl E. Dahl House at Evergreen Grove, 827 Green Street, Gardner, MA.
