WINCHENDON – Juan Adams Rivera Martinez, 74, a resident of Winchendon, died peacefully on July 12, 2022 at Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
He was born in Patillas, Puerto Rico on September 5, 1947, son of the late Abraham Rivera and Augusta Martinez.
Juan was a counselor and math professor at Roxbury Community College for many years until his retirement. He was a graduate of Dr. Rafael Lopez Landron School in Guayama, Puerto Rico and later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico. Juan also earned his Master’s Degree in Sociology from Governors State University in Illinois.
Juan had a passion for education, math, science, learning, reading and poetry. He loved the outdoors and traveling. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his lovely family, especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Juan leaves three children, Damarys Rivera and husband Genilton Dias of Fitchburg; his sons, Juan M. Rivera Sr and wife Aury Rivera of Winchendon and Juan A. Rivera of Walpole; grandchildren, Kevin Glenn Rivera, Julienette Rivera, Juan M. Rivera Jr., Jariana Rivera and Geodanys Dias Rivera; great grandchildren, Lillianette, Eva and Masimo Glenn Rivera; two brothers, Juan B. Rivera and Efrain Rivera; two sisters, Mildred Rivera and Edith Rivera and many dear nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be private.
