TEMPLETON – Judith A. “Judy” (Kirby) Brown, 65, of 16 Oak Street, Baldwinville, died peacefully at her residence Monday morning, April 16th, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Gardner on December 3, 1946, daughter of Dorothy (Caisse) Kirby of Baldwinville and the late Harry “Babe” Kirby. Judy was a lifelong resident of Baldwinville and was a graduate of Narragansett Regional High School Class of 1964. She also graduated from Stevens Business College in Fitchburg in 1966.
Judy worked for many years at Saloom Furniture in Winchendon until retiring last year. Active in community and church affairs, Judy was actively involved in the Boys and Girl Scouts of America for many years. She was a past member of Templeton Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. A communicant of St. Vincent De Paul Church, she was very involved in many aspects of the church, including being a Catechism teacher, Youth Choir Director, Past President of SVDP Women’s Guild and Fall Festival Chairperson.
Fondly know as Mema, Judy was a Disney Enthusiast. Many people benefited from her love of sharing the “Disney Experience” by taking them along on her many trips. Mema also loved the ocean and spent over 30 summers on the beaches of Wells and York, Maine with her family and friends.
In addition to her mother, she leaves her husband and high school sweetheart, Clayton H. “Skip” Brown, whom she married on May 13, 1967; three children, Ryan Brown and his wife Jennifer Krause of Lee, MA, Randy Brown and his wife Julie, with their two children Jason and Jennifer of Otter River, MA and Christine Brown of Baldwinville; her siblings Richard Kirby and his wife Beth of Otter River, Paul Kirby of Athol, Kathleen Webster and husband Peter of Baldwinville, JoAnn Illinitch of Baldwinville, Robert Kirby and his wife Anne of Baldwinville, Dr. James Kirby and his wife Kathleen of Cheshire, CT and Michael Kirby and his wife Leanne of Baldwinville; her in-laws Donna and Robert Sans of Baldwinville, Phyllis Brown of Petersham and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Madalyn Brown, brothers-in-law Gordon Brown, Richard Brown and John Illinitch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 19th at 11 A.M. in St. Vincent De Paul Church, 1 Forest Street, Baldwinville.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, April 18th from 5 to 8 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville at a later date.
