GARDNER - Judith P. (Packard) Phillips, 83, of 194 Central St., died peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2017 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester. Her family was at her side.
She was born in Detroit MI on October 19, 1933, the daughter of the late John S. and Ruth (Tupper) Packard and lived in Gardner since 1963.
Judy was a graduate of Oak Grove School in Vassalboro ME, attended Iowa State University, and then graduated from Chamberlain Business College in Boston. She worked for many years as a loan officer at the former Gardner Savings Bank.
Judy was an avid bridge player and an incredible fan of the Boston Red Sox. She enjoyed watching sports, reading, gardening, and was known as a gourmet cook. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. She was a member of Heywood Hospital Aid Association and worked for several years as a volunteer at the hospital
Her husband of 42 years, Richard J. Phillips died in 1997. She leaves two daughters, Karen P. Anderson and her husband, Nils of Gardner, and Gale Barbe and her husband, Paul of Glendora, CA; one sister, Miriam Brown of Lake George, NY; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Phillips, Erik Anderson and his wife, Lauren, Jeffrey Anderson, and Meagan Barbe; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey E. Phillips, in 2000.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 10:30 AM in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Richard Olsen will officiate. Burial will follow in Crystal Lake Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held in the funeral home Saturday, from 9:00 - 10:15 AM preceding the service.
