RINDGE, NH - Julia A. Knight, 77, of 50 West Main Street, Rindge, died peacefully at her residence on Tuesday morning, September 29th. She was born in Rindge on May 6,1932, the 6th of 9 children of the late Ainsworth and Eva S. (Poland) Knight Sr, in the house on what is now 333 Middle Winchendon Road and moved at the age of 2 to what is now 52 West Main Street, Rindge. Julia was a 1951 graduate of Conant High School. She worked at a sandwich shop at 109 Main Street for 5 years and then worked as a housekeeper for Drs. F.W. and E.K. Lewis in Groton for 5 years. During that time she returned to Rindge on her days off. Julia than operated a snack bar in Rindge Center and later operated at Pizza Stand beside Reds in Jaffrey. She followed that by working for Red Rooster at the corner of Cathedral Road for seven years. Julia then worked at New Hampshire Ball Bearing in Peterborough for twenty years until retiring. She later worked for the Jaffrey Rindge School System until her final retirement. Throughout her years of employment, Julia periodically worked for Cyprus Grove Restaurant in Rindge. Julia was a former member and officer of the Rindge Grange. She enjoyed making jigsaw puzzles and was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan. She was proud to have visited 48 of the 50 states in this country. She leaves two brothers, Phillips A. Knight and Robert E. Knight and a sister, Sally J. Poikonen, all of Ridge; two special nephews Philip A. Knight and Ryan A. Knight of Rindge; 3 special childhood cronies, her first cousins Amy Raymond and Janet Gordon and a friend Robert Goodall, all of Rindge, and over 70 nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. She was predeceased by three brothers, Richard F. Knight, Dana L. Knight and Ainsworth Knight Jr; two sisters, Phyllis T. Hoyt and Dorothy E. Pangborn; two nieces, Kay Pangborn MacLeod and Elizabeth A. Knight; two nephews, Steven Ainsworth Knight and Scott Richard Knight and one grandnephew, Alan A. Poikonen. Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 3rd at 11 A.M. in Hillside Cemetery, Rindge. The Rev. Dr. David Forry will officiate. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rindge Historical Society, 24 School Street, Rindge, NH 03461.
