WINCHENDON - Junetta Z. "Judy" (Flanders) Simmers, 59, of 175 Glenallen Street, died Monday, June 12th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following an illness. She was born in Newport, New Hampshire on September 15,1946 and was raised by her uncle and aunt, Phil and Della Clement. She resided in Leominster before moving to Winchendon 14 years ago. Judy was a graduate of Fitchburg High School with the Class of 1964 and attended Fitchburg State College. She was purchasing manager at Boutwell Owens in Fitchburg for 25 years before retiring in 2003. She was a communicant of St. Anne's Church in South Ashburnham. Judy leaves her husband of 39 years, Wayne N. Simmers; four daughters, Amy M. Simmers-Swanson, Christina M. Ramsay, Nicole M. Simmers and Elizabeth M. Simmers, all of Winchendon. Also a brother, Clayton Thornton of Newport, NH; three sisters, Barbara Cutting of Lebanon, N.H., Judy Dalton of Newport, NH and Esther Dunbar of Springfield, VT; 15 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, two loving foster children, and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Judy was a foster parent for many years. She was predeceased by a brother, Clarence Thornton, in 2005. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 16th from the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. Denis Church, 85 Main Street, Ashburnham. Burial will be private. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday, June 15th from 6 to 8 P.M.
