FITZWILLIAM, NH - Kenneth S. "Dunch" Dunchus, 73, of Fitzwilliam, NH, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, December 30th, in the familiar surroundings of his home, with the love and compassion of his family at his side.
He was born in Winchendon, MA on August 3, 1937, the son of the late Vytaus and Louise (Burgess) Dunchus. He was educated in Winchendon and lived there until 1964.
Ken owned and operated Ken Dunchus Contracting for the past 46 years. He was a former police officer for the Town of Winchendon, MA. At one time, he owned racehorses, which was his greatest pleasure, as he could share his hobby with his family and friends. He also loved playing cards with his family and many of his friends. Ken was an avid sports fan, his favorite being the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was a very giving person, always ready to help others in need. He was a gentle Giant.
Ken proudly served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion in Winchendon, VFW Post 5613 in Jaffrey, NH and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Keene, NH.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Nancy M. (Judd) Dunchus; three daughters, Darlene M. Dunchus and her husband Bill O'Malley of Fitzwilliam, NH, Maryann Coderre and her husband Ernie Coderre Jr of Winchendon, MA and Susan A. Cramm and her husband Carl of Gardner, MA; nine grandchildren, Zenon Dunchus and his wife Katie, Lauren Coderre, Jammie Lea Davis, Amanda Cramm, Rebecca Cramm, Carl Cramm Jr, Hannah Dunchus, Shaina Dunchus and Caleb Dunchus; three great grandchildren, Kylie Black, Isaiah Dunchus and Samari Dunchus; three sisters, Virginia Hamel of FL, Shirley Lavigne of Baldwinville, MA and Norma Dunton of Fitzwilliam, NH; a brother, Joe Dunchus of Winchendon; an aunt, Lucille May of Baldwinville and several nephews, nieces, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by a brother, Jack Dunchus and two sisters, Barbara Lavigne and Arline Stebbins.
Private graveside services will be held in the spring in Pine Grove Cemetery, Fitzwillliam, NH. There are no calling hours.
