WINCHENDON – Kenneth W. Taylor, 73, of 68 Gardner Road, Winchendon, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, February 28th, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner with his family at his side.

He was born in Washington, PA on November 14, 1938, son of the late John R. and Evelyn (Hastings) Taylor and had lived in Winchendon for the last two years.  Ken had lived in Tallmadge, OH for many years before moving here.

Ken proudly served in the United States Army for 22 years, serving two tours in Vietnam, until his retirement.  He had received the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device.

Following his discharge from the service, Ken worked as Head of Security for O’Neils May Co. in Akron, OH.  He was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and was an avid collector of baseball cards and coins.  He also collected two dollar bills, which he often used as presents for his family.  His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family.

He leaves his wife, Gloria Jeanne (Bond) Taylor; three daughters, Prudence A. Harsh of Winchendon, Johnna R. Brissette and her husband Raymond of Lunenburg and Kimberly Stewart of Winchendon; a brother, Dennis Taylor of Ohio; three stepchildren, Rhonda Page, Benjamin Bond and Kenneth Bond; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a great aunt Hazel Popplar and several nephews and nieces.  A sister, Carol Taylor, predeceased him.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 5th at 1 PM in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.  The Rev. David R. Cote will officiate.

A calling hour from 12 to 1 PM Monday will precede the funeral service.

Burial, with military honors, will be in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
