TEMPLETON – Kyle W. Amidon, 35, of 195 Riverside Drive, Florence, formerly of Templeton died February 1st from injuries suffered in an accident near Smith College.
He was born in Fitchburg on August 22, 1978, and grew up in Templeton, graduating from Narragansett Regional High School in 1996.
Kyle was best known for his smile, outgoing personality, and his amazing talent and passion for BMX. Kyle's passion and talent as a trail builder and rider was known nationally. Kyle helped to custom design and build several BMX tracks throughout New England. He started out BMX racing at the age of 5 on the Templeton BMX Racing team. He enjoyed baseball, cross country, football, camping, fishing, riding bikes, and building bike trails. Kyle was also known for his love of his young daughter Maisy Grace Amidon. Kyle and Maisy spent most of their time outdoors hiking, apple picking, and building forts. He especially enjoyed her bright smile when he could bring her to church with his family. Kyle loved spending time with his three sisters and providing them with the advice of a big brother.
Kyle was employed as a Residential Construction Worker for several companies in Central and Western MA. He also worked as a Bicycle Shop Mechanic throughout Central New England.
He leaves his parents, Ron and Rena (Matusewicz) Amidon of Templeton; a daughter, Maisy G. Amidon; two sisters; April L. Amidon of Athol and Chelsey J. Amidon of Templeton as well as his maternal grandparents; William and Annette Matusewicz of Templeton. He will also be sadly missed by his companion Moira Taylor of Florence, MA. He also leaves one maternal uncle; Wayne Matusewicz, 8 paternal aunts and uncles; James and Rhea Amidon, Lori and Peter Huhtala, Lynn and Gordon Davis, and Nancy Amidon. He was predeceased by a sister, Alyssa J. Amidon, in 2012, his paternal grandfather; Richard Amidon in 2012 and his paternal grandmother, Betty E. Amidon in 2008.
A Celebration of life gathering for family and friends will be held Tuesday, February 11th from 3 to 6 PM at the Otter River Sportsmen’s Club, 250 Lord Road, Otter River.
Funeral services will be private and there are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Kyle may be made to the Maisy Grace Amidon, Memorial Trust, in care of Athol Savings Bank, 50 Elm Street, Baldwinville, MA. 01436.
