BALDWINVILLE – Lawrence L. “Loney” Fletcher, 87, of 41 Walnut Street, died peacefully at home Sunday afternoon, May 3rd, with his family at his side.
He was born in Winchendon on March 24, 1928, son of the late Irving and Christine (Lawrence) Fletcher and lived in Baldwinville for many years. In 1946, Loney graduated from the former Templeton High School. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.
Loney worked many years ago for the Town of Templeton Highway Department and Templeton Municipal Light Department until his retirement. He then went to work with his sons at W.J. Graves Construction Company, where he could often be found operating the loader in his Happy Hollow pit. Loney also owned and operated Baldwinville Speed Wash and West Street Coin Op Laundromats for 40 years, with his late wife. He was a former director of Colonial Cooperative Bank. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at his camp.
His wife of 56 years, Aileen A. (Graves) Fletcher, died in 2008. He leaves four children, Jean C. Smith and her husband Mark of Rindge, NH, James L. Fletcher and his wife Joyce of Gardner, Laureen A. Moran and her husband Matt of Rindge, NH and John L. Fletcher and his wife Karleen of Baldwinville; nine grandchildren, Bryan Smith, Erica Smith, Brandon Smith, Christine May and her husband Adam, Kaitlin Fletcher and her husband Jake Lyman, William Fletcher, Travis Fletcher, Kelsey Fletcher and Trevor Fletcher; three great grandchildren, Brent Smith, Madalynn Smith and Luke Lyman; his very close friend and caregiver Judy Duteau of Baldwinville and several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Two grandchildren, Kevin Fletcher and Chelsey Fletcher, and his siblings, Forrest Fletcher, Harold Fletcher and Elizabeth Lajoie preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9th at 1 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Stephanie Flynn will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville.
