Lea C. (Caouette) Soucy

November 10, 1940 — January 22, 2013

WINCHENDON – Lea C. (Caouette) Soucy, 72, of 61 Pond Street, Winchendon, died Tuesday afternoon, January 22nd in Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville after a long illness.  Her loving family and friends were at her side.

Lea was born in Winchendon on November 10, 1940, daughter of the late Napoleon Joseph and Cecile Marie (Hardy) Caouette and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon.  In 1958, she graduated from Murdock High School.

Lea worked most recently as an assembler at Simplex Time Recorder Co.  Previously, she had worked at Murray Davenport Oil Co. and Play Away Lanes.  She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and enjoyed cake decorating, crafts and playing bingo.  Most of all, she loved her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren

Her husband of 50 years, Herve J. “Gus” Soucy died in 2009.  She leaves three children, Brian P. Soucy and his companion Mitsi Hall of Lompoc, CA, Robert P. Soucy and his wife Barbara of Winchendon and Jean A. Thibodeau and her husband John of Dalton, MA; her extended family Jody and Denise Paul of Winchendon; two brothers, Leon J. Caouette of Winchendon and Henry D. Caouette and his wife Carole of Nevada, a brother in law, Romeo LeBlanc of Winchendon, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.  A son, Richard J. “Rick” Soucy and a sister, Doris M. LeBlanc predeceased her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 26th at 11 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon.  Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery Wednesday, January 30th at 11 A.M.

Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Friday, January 25th from 5 to 8 P.M.
